Next, you’ll need to measure up your kitchen. Make sure you allow for door openings and for the height of your kitchen. If your kitchen is light and airy then you can get away with as light or dark colours as you wish but if it’s like mine with quite a low beamed ceiling then always measure to the lowest point of the beams. Don’t forget that if you don’t have your flooring in yet that this will also have a bearing on the available height. Keep this in mind when you’re looking at kitchen units for sale, too – some ready designed cupboards if wall mounted may not fit above the worktops.
